[FBEBS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.] CARTERTON, Nov. 6' At a largely-attended meeting of dairy farmers the following resolutions were passed: “That this meeting of farmers of the Carterton district wishes to endorse the action taken by the Farmers’ Union during the present crisis and pledges itself to do its utmost towards providing the labor necessary for Horne markets.’’ “That this meefi'ng of farmers endorses the action of Messrs Okey and Wilkinson, members of Parliament, in regard to their asking the Government to guarantee monthly payments to dairy farmers for produce, and that Sir W. C. Buchanan and Mr Sykes, M.Ps. l>e asked to approach the Government with a view to asking it to pass special legislation to meet the present difficulty.” NEWS FROM WESTPORT. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM] WESTPORT, Nov. 6. Several mass meetings were held by the strikers to-day and this evening, when addresses were given by members of the Strike Committee. The workmen are urged to refrain from intoxicating liquors, and to do nothing to bring discredit on the organisation . The Westport, branch of the A.S.R.S. at a meeting this afternoon passed a resolution in reference to five men whose services were dispensed with on account of slackness of work occasioned by the strike, asking that they should be simply suspended and given preference of employment when work is again offering. A resolution was also passed instructing the executive of the A.S.R.S. to vote a sum towards the assistance of the Federation of Labor.
