The vitality of Lord Halsbury is amazing. At the age of eighty-seven lie is undertaking the general editorship of “The English Digest,” a new work in which the whole case law of England, from early times to the present clay, will be given in twentyfour volumes of from 800 to f&O pages each. For several years Lord Halsbury, whose record of service as Lord Chancellor lias been excelled only by Lord Hardwicks and Lord, Eldon, has been editing another work, “The Laws oi England,” in twenty-eight volumes. A member of the firm of Messrs Butterwovth and Co., who are publishing both works, said that Lord Halsbury’s capacity for work, liis tenacious memory, and bis mastery of detail would be remarkable in a man half his age, and added: “His prodigious energy enables him to produce work of a quality and quantity that is the envy.and admiration of young lawyers.”
