SENSATIONAL MOTOR ACCIDENT

[press association telegram.] ' WANGANUI. Sept. 15. As a motor car containing Arthur Gillies, Harold Thomson, . Ganville Saunders, well-known golfers, • was proceeding to the golf links this morning, the front wheel of the car sideslipped when the driver attempted to get clear of a dog in Main Street. The spokes of the wheel broke, the tyre burst, and the car turned completely over. Duncan, Gillies and Saunders who were in the back seat, were thrown clear of the car, escaping with a few bruises.' The driver of the car, a man named Carter, fell heavily on the side of his head inside the car and was picked up Unconscious. Thomson also fell on the side of his head;, with the car on top of him. Both men were carried into adjoining shops and medical aid was sought. The driver soon recovered consciousness, and Thomson also revived later. They had strained muscles .of the arm. Apparently neither had bones broken, though their faces were both much cut about and their bodies bruised. The car was smashed considerably.
