SUCCESS OF HIGH SCHOOL

.PUPILS.

At the meeting of the Board of Governors yesterday, the chairman (Mr E. H. Mann) announced that the following pupils of the Gisborne High School gained places in the recent Oom petitions

L. Mouat and E. Miller, 2nd piano duet under 16; A. Forde-Matthows, 3rd piano sola under 15; Leslie Mouat, 3rd piano solo under 18, sight reading; Theo. Caesar, Ist violin solo tinder 15 ; A. Jones, Ist reading at sight under 16; B. Butterfield, Ist reading at sight, open; N. Nicolas, 2nd recitation, boys .under 18; B. Butterfield, 2nd recitation, girls under 18; J. Porter, 2nd original'story, open; N. Nicolas, 2nd essay under 18; A. Toomatli, 3rd essay under 18. The Governors considered the re-, suits highly satisfactory, and more so as the Principal announced that the success in every case was accomplished without the assistance of the members of the teaching staff.
