LUNIT'ED PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGHT) MELBOURNE, July 29. „ John Norton, proprietor cf [‘Truth” is suing David Herald, solicitor, for three thousand pounds damages, for alleged negligence in the conduct of the defence m the action by Archbishop Clarke against Norton for alleged libel in connection with the Nash case. , , , , w , The plaintiff’s counsel stated that. Norton was not pressing for damages, but merely wanted to vindicate his character.* Norton complained that Herald had not informed him that Canon Nash .would refuse to give certain evidence which the defence relied on. If Norton had known this, it was stated, he would have effected a settlement earlier than lie did. The case was adjourned.
