Mr Outlnvaite, in the House of Commons, asked that Lord Gladstone should be instructed to submit a statement representing the Rand workers’ views of the cause of the strike. Mr Harrourt (Colonial Secretary) refused and stated that a Commission was inquiring into the matter.
