THE FRIEDMANN CURE.
CONDEMNED IN AMERICA. U.S.A. HEALTH SERVICE REPORT.
WASHINGTON, May 10. Dr. Friedmann’s method of curing tuberculosis has been practically condemned by the United States Health Service, though the opinions in the report are cautiously expressed. The report was read by.Dr Anderson before the Association for the Study and Prevention of Tuberculosis. “We believe,” says the report, “that we aro not in a position to express an opinion based on the present condition of the patients we have observed, but we are in a position to state that the effects so far observed do not justify the confidence in the remedy which lias been , given by widespread publicity.
“The reticence and vacillation of Dr Friedmann have not in any way been allowed to interfere with our judgment as to the effects of the remedy.” The report is signed by Dr Anderson and Dr S'fcimson.
The doctors, add, apart from the report: “In ouir opinion harm has been done by widespread! publicity, because it has lessened the confidence of tuberculous persons in the recognised methods of treatment, or lias led to their interrupting their use. “We are constrained to advised persons against any lessening in the use of those well-known methods.”
Concerning Dr Friedmann’s culture the doctors say: “Experiments have_ shown to bo..an organism having properties quite different to those of any* tuberculin bacilli with which wo are acquainted.”
