THE SELF-DEMYING PRESIDENT.
In addition to his -abolition of the famous inaugural ball, liis refusal to accept social favors of a personal character, and his omission to serve wind at official luncheons and dinners, President Wilson, it is reported, lias decided not to use the Presidential yacht Mayflower. Aparently he docs not approve of the expenditure of the nation’s money for the purpose of providing such luxuries. All his relatives have been informed that they need expect no official appointments from him. The nation likes the scruples which are responsible for these and other resolutions expressed in the form of an intimation that the President prefers to pay for his own box. at the theatre instead of accepting a complimentary box, and to bo elected in the ordinary • way to any club he may choose to join.
