THE COMING SESSION.
INTERVIEW WITH THE PREMIER FURTHER, LAND LEGISLATION FORECASTED. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, May 14. The Premier, Mr Massey, stated today that he had been very busy preparing legislative proposals for the coming session, and already a number of) Bills are ready or in a forward state, including an amendment of the Land Act to give effect to that part of the Government’s policy on this question which could not be dealt with last session. Land settlement, he continued, was being pushed on vigorously in various parts of the country and, in addition to two estates acquired during the past week, there were five .or six others which would shortly, it is expected, he available for cutting up for closer settlement. Owing to Ministers’ arrangements in different districts, lie proceeded, a full Cabinet meeting is difficult to arrange, and in these circumstances itis unlikely that any Legislative Council appointments will be made heiore Parliament meets. Possibly the announcements may bo made- m the Governor’s speech at the opening of the session.
