At vesierdav’s meeting or the Chamber of Commerce 31 r Toneycliffe asked if it were not possible to make a better arrangement m regard to the East Coast mails. He complained that the mail which left- Gisborne by the -steamer on Wednesday morning was allowed to lie at Tokomaru Bay until it was picked Tip by the coach on Friday.

Mr Dean said he had made inquiries, and had found that tile mail went on from Tokomaru on Ihur-soaj morning. Mr Thorne George stated that there were two mails a week to Y a:piro. but- only one to Port Awanui. Messrs Toneycliffe, Barry and Dean wero appointed a sub-conimittes to interview Air Renner, Cniei Postmaster, with the object of endeavoring to arrange for a more frequent service!
