New Zealanders at home and abroad will be interested to hear of the formation in Chicago. Illinois (U.S.A.) of the Australasian Society of America. ! It is composed of Australians and New . Zealanders, and has as its aim. in ad- ! dition to social gatherings for the promotion rf good feeling among its members. the education of the American I people to the part played by the lands of the South Pacific in the world’s progress in connection more especially with, commercial and tourist traffic, political economy and the peace of the world. It is especially hoped that this society will help in stimulating trada relations between these countries an a America, as at present our yearly imports from America greatly exceed our exports to that country, largely on account of the ignorance of Americans in regard to the lines of business in which they could advantageously enrage with these colonies. Mr. Fred. Davison, of Melbourne, has been elected president of the society, with Mr. A. T. G. Thorne, of Auckland, as vicepresident.
