NORTH AMERICA SNOWED UP. CANADIAN RAILWAY BLOCKED. [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT) OTTAWA, Dee. 31. A terrific snowstorm blocked the Western and United States Railway. It was the worst blizzard for 20 years. DAMAGE IN UNITED STATES. NEW YORK, Dec. 31. Milwaukee reports that an avalanche killed a. number of employees in the Cascade mountains' A rotary snow plough exploded on the Great Northern Railway. Five persons were killed. The' telegraph and telephone lines have been rendered idle. Much damage was done to small shipping.
