RAILWAY RETURNS.

THE GISBORNE SECTION

The traffic returns for the Gisborne railway section for the period ending November 9, and for the correspondnig period of 1911. are as follows: Passengers carried during the 1912 period numbered S7BS (3010 single and 4878 return), and during- 1911 the total was 9179 (3S/3 single and 5038 return). In 1912, 8233 were second class and 956 first, and the numbers for 1911 were 4383 and 492. Jour season tickets were issued during the period and 11 last year. The number_ of goods carried during the 191 k period was 1402, as compared with 254, the biggest increase being m sheep, from 1402 to 284. In tons, the total for the 1912 term was 2841, and 3-596 last year, while parcels have increased from -555 to 859. The revenue given in the order of 1912 and 1911 was as follows: Passengers £578 14s lOd and £533 5s lOd; parcels, luggage and mails, £92 2s Id and £SB 12s 8d; goods, £694 Is Gil and £719 14s; miscellaneous, £l9 4s lOd and £lB6 6s 7d; rents and commission, £46 4s 5d and £37 9s 3d: total, £1429 7s 8d and £1,53-5 Ss 4d.
