The Hon. Mrs O’Grady has donated £3500 to the Booth memorial (says a London P.A. cable). Mr. A. W. Soundy, assistant master at the Dannevirke South School, has been appointed headmaster ot the Makauri school, and wilf take up his lierv duties at the beginning of next month.

The parishioners of St. Andrews Prosbvreritui Church last evening presented Rev. Peter Ramsay with a gold watch and chain to mark the 25th anniversary of his entrance to the ministry. They also made a presentation to Mrs Ramsay to commemorate her silver wedding.—P.A.

A railway porter named Walter Gordon was presented last- night at Hastings by tile Mayor with the Royal Humane Society’s silver medal and certificate in recognition of the bravery lie displayed in saving life at Hastings railway station ou May 2nd last. —P.A.

.Sir G. Reid, High Commissioner for Australia, has gone to Chicago. Thoroughout his Canadian tour he was warmly greeted. References in the speeches at ■various Canadian clubs to Australia's warm regard for Canadians and other members of the Empire were loudly cheered. Sir George Reid is delighted with his reception.—P.A. The death occurred suddenly atMaknraka yesterday of Aluisie Lees Stott, infant daughter of Air and Airs j r.' Stott. The little one had but a short illness and her death was quite unexpected. Much sympathy will be extended to Air and Airs Stott in their sail bereavement..' The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, the -.'•o-vice at the grave being conducted by R ev. G. Grant.
