(Received Sept. 11, 8 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 11. A meeting of the theatrical profession urged the Actors’ Association to oppose Sunday theatres and nnisic halls. THE RAILWAY “CLERKS.” (Received Sept. 11, S p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 11. The Amalgamated Rail way men have dispensed with the clerks. The latter are picketing the Society’s offices to prevent black-legging. The situation is complicated by the National Union of Clerks declaring that the picketers themselves are blacklegs and are usurping qualified clerks’ positions.

Acting under information from Scotland Lard, the local detectives arrested at one of the leading hotels a Russian, supposed to he concerned in a cc r spiracy case in London. TRADES DISPUTES AMENDMENT. (Received Sept. 11, 8 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 11. Mr Robert Cec-iFs new Bill, an amendment of the Trade Disputes Act, restores the liability of unions in connection with the portions of the Act under their cognisance and exempts them from provident fund, liability. The regulations for peaceful picketing allow limited immunity to persons inducing others to break contracts. BETTER WAGES. (Received Sept. 11, 8 p.m.) _ LONDON, Sept. 11. Twenty thousand ring spinners in the Lancashire cotton trade, chiefly females, have obtained 10 per centum increase in wages. THE CHURCH IN AUSTRALIA. (Received Sept. 12, 1.10 a.m.) BATHURST, Sept, 11. The Anglican Synod, by 37 votes to 22. favored the autonomy of the Churches in Australia.
