Exceptional interest* attaches to the Gisborne Boxing Association’s rnival-, which at His Majesty’s Theatre to-morrow night, and will conclude- on Friday evening. Satisfactory entries have been received in all classes, while the special lightweight class for local members of the Territorial forces, for which there are about a dozen entries, is attracting widespread interest. The professional 10-round professional contest between Bert Lowe, the local unbeaten champion, and Peter Thomas, of Hawke’s Bay. promises to furnish the most attractive bout- which has been witnessed here. Thomas, who is a pupil of Larrv Foley, the- renowned Sydney trainer, who coached no less a star than Peter -Tack-on, is spoken of as a particular! v fast andi scientific boxer. Napier authorities state that Lowe will have to be a good man to withstand Thomas. Local enthusiasts-are satisfic'd that Lowe is a. good man, and are confident that lie will he able to ‘sustain his undefeated record. In any case, it is almost certain that a capital contest will he witnessed.
