DROWNING FATALITY,
BODY FOUND IN WAIKANAE CREEK, INQUEST TO BE HEW). Burly yesterday morning the body of Albert Oliver, a young man about 29 years of age, was found in the Waikanae river near the slip. Tindeceased, it appears, was one of a party of men who came down from Auckland in I9OS to work on the Gisborne-Al otu . railway works. He arrived in town some "days ago, and was, it is stated, suffering from melancholia. He had recently been a patient in the hospital, and the other day called at the police station and asked to be locked up, as he was out of work. l ire deceased had dinner at a restaurant on Sunday and was seen on' the wharf about 4 p.m., and between 4 and 5 p.m. a hat was picked up in the river. About 6 a.in. yesterday the body was discovered by Air H. Feilder, a waterman. There was a bank book in a pocket, but all the money had been drawn, and deceased .had only about £1 in silver on him. An inquest will he held to-day.
