HORSE SALE. About- 50 hacks and harness horses including light and heavy draughts wore offered at Messrs Y\ illiams and Kettle’s Horse Bazaar on Saturday. A very good sale resulted, the majority of the lots being sold. Hacks made from £3 15 s to £2O, and harness horses from £6 to £ls. A number of heavy horses, offered on account of Air C. Keenan, were disposed of at prices ranging from £l6 to £23. C USTOMS BE YE NU E. The Customs returns ln_st week amounted to £22-81, and this constituted a rreel'd for any one work. Ltd., and It educed are in receipt of the following cable from their London office : ‘As compared, with Last closing rates prices are about 5 oer cent, to 71 per cent, higher for medium greasv cross!; rod and fine greasy merino; about par to •> per cent, higher for scoured merino, greasv crossbred lambs and orcssbied slipe; about par to b per cent lower for scoured crossbred. Thirty thousand bales of wool were held over; 233,000 sold and sales; 72.000 for Continent. Sales closed wit-h good competition. 18,000 bales were taken for America. WELLINGTON, Aug. 3. The High Commissioner’s earned market report, dated August 2. states: “The wool sales have closed ■with a good demand for all descrip-
tions. The sales have not been affected adversely on account of the continuation, of the strike. There is a goed demand for American, especially crossbreds in good condition. Tito trade is good for Homo and Continent, and prospects are favorable; 17,090 bales of New Zealand wools were held; over. The estimated value of •superior merino, is Is to Is 2d, medium 9£d to llld, inferior 74d to ,9d; fine crossbreds (all grades) Is to Is 2ld; medium c rossbreds 9-}d to Is, coarse crossbreds 8d to lid.”
