Y.M.A.C. (4) v. G.T.A. (1). ‘ After a fast and interesting came at the Reserve on Saturday Y.M.A.C. succeeded in defeating G T.A. by 4 goals to- one. G.T.A. with the wind in their favor, had the better of the greater part of the first spell, and had it not been for the good defence of A. j Webster and Gardner G.T.A.’s score would undoubtedly have been larger. In the second spell G.T.A. lost heart and their opponents simply walked over them. The teams were as follow ; Y.M.A.C. j (Red): Wright, Gardner, A. Web- ! ster, Hollands, Hosier. Hughes, Wilson. James. Green. Windybank, GWebster; G.T.A. {black and white): | Renwick. Archibald, Black, F. Han- | na, W. Hanna, Lancaster, Barnieott, | Wallace, Fryer, Bind, and Shields. Webster won the toss for the Reds and Fryer sent the ball to Burd, who ' passed to Shields. A good rush was stopped by Webster, who transferred to Windybank. G.T.A. again attacked. This time Gardner relieved and j kicked out well down the field. From i the throw-in Barnieott secured the ball and sent to Fiver, who returned | to Barnieott. Hughes gained pcesession and sent to G. Webster, who made j a good run down the field, but, unsupported, failed to core. Archibald sec- ; -nred the ball and sent to Hanna, who : put in a good but high shot, the hall goi n cr over the cross-bar. If rain the j home kick Hanna secured hut fie ! again shot the ball a little too high. Wright sent the ball down the line, and Lancaster gained possession and transferred to. the hall going to-the -right of the goal. A combined attack by the Red forward division -followed and Greene jus-t missed scoring. A spell of uninteresting play in mid-field followed. The Reds again attacked hut Webster, getting off-side, was penalised. G.T.A. were again on the attack, and a. lively few minutes in front of the Red’s goal followed. Gardner brought off ,a savo and transferred play to- mid-field. Thors Hanna gained possession of the ball and in his attempt to shoot fell and was temporarily disabled. Greene secured the ball from the bounce and sent to- Windybank,' who was beaten by Hanna. The latter transferred to Barnieott and Gardner, in attempting to save, kicked the ball behind the line. Barnieott took the corner-krtk and sent the leather well into the goal-mouth, where Webster, in attempting to head the hall, was bumped and handled the ball. Fryer took the penalty kick, and put in a lowshot towards the- corner, giving Wright no chance. From the kick-off James secured and sent to Wilson. The latter returned and Black secured and sent the ball well down the field. A spell of mild play followed. Half time sounded with the scores 1— nil in favor of G.T-A. With the wind in their favor Y.M.A.C. carried all in front of them and took play into G.T.A. territory. As the result of a lively few minutes -in front of the goal Hanna amide,ntally kicked the ball through—G.T.A. 1, "Y.M.A.O. 1. After the kick-off a spelt of uninteresting play followed. L-M.A.C. attacked and Ren wick, in goal, rushed out to save, hut through handling the hall out of the goal-area wa s penalised. Greene took the kick, but failed to make use of it. Hanna secured and sent to Fryer, who. in attempting to pass wad beaten by Hosier. The latter passed to Greene and a combined attack hv the Red forwards ended in James scoring with a good header. G.T.A. rushed and Gardner brought off a good save, sending the ball to Webster, who, after an excel lent run down the field, scored Y.M.A.C.’® third goal. The Reds again attacked, the ball going out to Webster on the right, who, after a good run, just missed scoring. G.T.A. attacked blit a Black player charged a mail from the back and was penalised. A. Webstoi took the kick and sent to G- Webster, but the latter, being unsupported, failed to make headway. G.T.A. attacked and Gardner was called on to save, and lie sent the hall to Hosier, who transferred to W indybank. The j fitter, with a clear field in front of him, shot wildly, missing a likely-looking goal. A home kick followed. Renwrck sent the hall to Barnieott, who, after a short run, was stopped by A. Webster. A good rush by the Y.M.A.C. f-onvards resulted in Greene putting the ball through the coveted area. A s7>ol 1 of mid-field play followed. The whistle sounded a little later, leaving Y.M.-A.C-'victorious by 4 goal® to 1. Mi’ R. Downie gave every satisfaction with the whistle.
