CORONER’S INQUIRY.
WHAT WAS THE CAUSE OF
DEATH ?

The circumstances surrounding tbo death of James W. Gumming, who died on Saturday, and whose funeral bad to be postponed yesterday, were the subject of an inquiry by Mr C. C. Graham (coroner) this afternoon. Dr. Roberts and Dr. W. Marshall Macdonald gave evidence that death was due to a. tumour on the brain. Dr. deLautour expressed the opinion that death was due to hemorrhage of the brain, but he contended that this was due to a condition of the blood caused by sewer gas poison, and t-liat death was not due to the existence of a tumourThe Coroner returned a verdict that death was cine to hemorrhage of the brain, caused by a tumour, and that sewer gas was not the cause of death.
