TO HONOR SIR JAMES CARROLL
THE ARRANGEMENTS. A general meeting of both ladies’ and gentlemen’s committees appointed in connection with the presentation to Sir James Carroll met at the Borough Council Chambers yesterday. The Mayor presided and there was a good attendance. It was decided that the presentation should be made at His Majesty’s Theatre on May 15. Regarding the Maori haka at was decided that a letter should" be written to Dr. Wi Repa- stating that it would be impossible to hold the Maori haka at the Theatre. . .. Messrs Vita Bros’ orchestra is to be engaged to play selections. An address printed on satin will be presented to Sir .James Carroll. Hon. W. D. S. MacDonald telegraphed that he would have much pleasure in being present at the function to his old friend Sir Janies rollHon. G- Laurenson also telegraphed that he had received the invitation, but was holding it over until he could definitely reply—probably on Tuesday. He hoped to be able to be present at the presentation, as he was very anxious to do honor to his old friend Sir James Carroll.
