An explosion in the main mine at tlie Gross Mountain system, Knoxville, has entombed' probably a hundred miners. Throngs of women and children are besieging the shaft mouth. Three of the entombed miners escaped by a lateral shaft. Rescue parties were driven out by flames, without seeing any signs of the victims. Little is expected to be done till the fire is subdued.
