THEIR MAJESTIES’ VISIT

CAUSES GREAT PUBLIC EXCITEMENT.

BOMBAY' Dec. 2.

The weather is ideal for the arrival of their Majesties, and feverish efforts are being made to finish tire decorations. Public excitement over the arrival is unexampled in living memory. Portraits of their Majesties are selling in the streets in huge numbers.

ENTHUSIASTIC RECEPTION. ALL BOMBAY AGOG WITH EXCITEMENT. (Received Dec. 4. 12.35 a-m.) BOMBAY, Dec. 3. There was bright sunshine to-day. and the harbor was full of decorated craft when the- Medina with the King and Queen aboard arrived. The Viceroy boarded the Medina and welcomed Their Majesties, while a hundred and one guns salute was fired in the harbor for the first- time.

Their Majesties landed in the afternoon. and renewed salutes were given. The arrival happily coincided with the Mohammedan festival of Bakrid. Everyone was dressed in their gayest .clothing for the reception. Indian chiefs, landing officials, soldiers, clergy, .and judges" were in the magnificent- pavilion which was superbly decorated with national flags, including those of Australia and New Zealand-

Their Majesties were seated on golden thrones, the dais being canopied with royal, blue. They received the city’s address, and replied that one of their first desires after accession was to visit their Indian subjects. Afterwards a stately procession from the cit-v returned to the Medina.
