ATTITUDE OF THE KING. LORD HALDANE’S EXPLANATION. (Received Oct. 11. 1.15 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 10Lord Haldane, referring to the veto, said the King made no bargain with, the Government, and they had not asked him for any pledge. The King said: “What the country decides, that will I accept,” and when the Lords threatened the rejection cf the Bill the King wisely handed to the Ministers his assent to the creation of new peers.
