THE RELEASER-BUCKET.
AA invention of interest to DAIRY FARMERS.
A “Times” representative yesterday inspected at Messrs Booth and MacDonald's machinery, depot, a releaser bucket for milking, machines. Described" sini--1 plv, the releaser is a bucket divided into two parts, the principle being to milk a cow, say, Betty, into one half of the releasor' bucket, which is erected' overhead, with a flum mg leading to the separator room or milk can stand. A very simple arrangement shows the quantity the cow gives. When Betty_ is milked the teat cup is, placed' on Rosie, and she is milked into the other half of the 'releaser. After taking what is wanted of Betty’s milk for testing, the tap of the releaser is . turned, and the milk run in the fluming to the separately room thus saving the labor of carrying the milk buckets to empty them. If Betty’s milk shows anything wrong when being stripped, the milk can be run into a pail and thrown away, and. the process can be repeated with each and every cow. By keeping a record of each, cow’s test and quantity the farmer is able to cull out the cows that are not paying and fill their places with good cows. ' Mr Northcott, the patentee of the releaser bucket, is one of the firm’s travellers, and has had mny; years’ experience with milking, machinery. The release!' appears to be just what is wanted. There is no doubt it is ,a laborsaver and makes it very easy to test each Individual cow and also keep a record of the quantity she gives. The releasers are supplied at a very small cost above the cost of the present bucket system. Two local sheds are having tlie new invention installed.
