BIG ICE-JAMB.

ON ALASKAN RIVER. A REMARKABLE DISASTER: An extraordinary disaster is reported from Fairbanks, the mining district on the Tanana River, in Alaska. An ice-jamb occurred in the river, a few miles above 1 the town, as a result of which the waiter backed up 30ft'. Huge blocks of ice, some of them 15ft thick, became lodged in the streets, and crashed into the buildings,, mapy of which were completely demolished. In all 250 houses were destroyed, and the docks along the water-front also were reduced to wreckage.
