A mutiny occurred on January 1, hut was quelled. Twelve men were sentenced to be shot. Nine were shot and three jumped overboard. A question on the subject was asked in the Brazilian House of Parliament, and an inquiry promised. There have been two revolts on Brazilian ships during the oast few months.
