PERSONAL NOTES.
Advice has been received in Wellington, says a Press Association message last night, of the death of Mr J. F. Lane, for many years manager of Citizens’ Life Assurance in Since the amalgamation of the ’KRRuaI Life and the Citizens Mr Lane had been in charge of the West Australian business with head quarters at Perth, where he died after a short illness, aged 42 years. He leaves a widow and three children.
It is stated in a cable received last night that Mr. Joseph Chamberlain has arrived in London.
According to a Press Association message from Auckland last night. Mr Massey, leader o>f the Opposition, left Auckland by the Main Trunk: express that evening for Wellington, where lie will* stay 'until Wednesday evening. He will arrive in Christchurch on Thursday morning, and wil go on to the South, visiting ni turn Waianate, Oanraru, Riverton, Invercargill, Ashburton, and i-oa, and at each centre he will deliver political addresses. Mr. A. H. Anderson was last evening elected to the position of secretary of the Freezers’ Union.-. . '
