WANGANUI, Feb. 10. Archibald McNeil, who .escaped fi-.jiu the Terrace Gaol, Wellington, on January' 23, was captured at . Koriirti pa, 44 miles up the Wanganui river, this morning by Constable Thompson. The prisoner was reported to have been seen at Wangaehu, 13 ■miles from here, last Thursday, since when the police have been on his trail. He represented himself as a relative from Australia to a farmer near Wanganui, and stayed there a o.uiplc of days being traced from tlioio to Jvoriniti. He violently resisted arrest, and once got away from the constable, making for a hoist' winch ]•» bad saddled and bridled m ease ot wirprise. McNeil, who is a. powerful fellow,'said lie. had vainly tried to get •vissessitm of a revolver, and n lie had one he would not have been captured, lie had a razor and pocket knife on b : m when'arrested, and vainly -endeavored to get at the razor whon struggling with the policeman.
