OBITUARY.

. / HONE HEKE, M.P. (Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 9. Mr Hono Heko, ALP., died m a private hospital at Wellington this morning, .from tubercular hemorrhage. He was 40 years of age. [Mr Hone Heke was horn at Kaikoho, Bay of Islands, and was educated at Kawakawa and Oromahoe village schools and St. Stephen’s Native school, Auckland. Ho entered tlio Government service as a Native land officer in 1892, but resigned tbe following year to take up the leadership of the Maori Federated Tribes of New Zealand. He entered Parliament ill 1893 as representative for the Northern Alaori District, and has sat continuously since. Air. Hone Heke was a grand-nephew of the famous chief of the same name, who conducted the first war against the British in 1845.]
