Tlio New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., yesterday received the following cablegram from their London office: “Wool sales, 192,000 bales were sold, 88,000 bales for Continent, 12,000 bales for America; 9,000 held over.” WOOL. [Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 9. A cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, February Bth, states: The wool sales closed firm, with a good demand for all descriptions, hut- except for lots suitable for America, which arc -|d higher, the opening gaiu on medium and coarse qualities is lost. Values generally arc now about the samo as at tlie December sales'. America purchased freely, and tho market is uncertain, but hopeful. The estimated values are as follows: Superior. merino 11-Jd to lsLJd, medium merino 9d to lid. inferior merino 6RI to 8 id, fine crossbreds, (all grades) lid to IsLRI medium crossbreds (all grades) old to lid, coarse crossbreds (all grades) Gd to 9d. INVERCARGILL WOOL SALES. (Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Feb. 9. The last wool sale of the present series was held to-day, when bales were offered, and practically all sold. It was generally anticipated, in view of the result of tho northern sales, that prices would be lower, but considering that there was less than half the quantity offered and that most of tho host clips had been sold, prices wore* fully equal to those ol ic January sale. Lower grade wool was fully -’d better. Tbo best price was obtained for a three-bale lot ol super crossbred hogget, winch sold foi lid. Tho best prices for other sorts woi e. Half bred 103 d, strong crossbred 9 a d. Prices wore fully up to last sales quotations.
