FREMANTLE, Dec. 31
George Towns returned from England by the Ormuz. His first words on arrival were: “AYlio won the boat race?” Oil being informed he replied: “I thought Dick would do it.” He expressed his delight at Arnst’s success, and declared that lie was a fine stamp of a sculler, but a hit heavier than he liked to see them. His best points were strength, gameness and stamina. He was confident that Arnst would easily beat Barry, adding that it would be a'long, long time before Arnst was beaten. He thinks a match can he arranged with Barry at an early date. He deprecated Arnst taking up boxing, unless be was sure he could be an adept at the business. “Let him stick to sculling,” Towns said, “The world wants fino young men like him.” Regarding his own match with Barry, Towns said that the—better man had won. He was too old .now, he added, and ho realised that before ho left Australia.
