Mr George several years *- member of the reporting staff of the “Evening Post,” has accepted an 'appointment in the literary department of the Taranaki “Herald.” He will take his departure from Wellington in a few days’ time. The Loudon Correspondent of the “New Zealand Herald,” writing on November 6 says: The “Guardian” this week announces the appointment of the Rev. E. H. Strong, M.A.. University of New Zealand, to be theological tutor in St. John’s Collogq, Auckland, New Zealand. At present Mr. Strong is curate of St. Barnabas’ Church, Balsall Heath. Also the appointment is announced of the Rev. Edgar Ward to be vicar of Waerenga-a-hika, Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. Air. Reakes, of the Government Veterinary Department, arrives in Gisborne from. Wellington this morning on offichil l business. Mrs. Wilder and Miss Russell, Hawkes Bay, arrived from Waipiro Bay last evening, and will leave for the south on Sunday.

Mr. Kemp, of the Telegraph Dcv parment, who hns been inspecting the lines on the East Coast, returned to Gisborne from Port Awanui last evening. . Mr C. Brown, who through advancing years and an uttack of rheumatic gout, has had to resign the position as sexton of the Wairoa cemetery, has (says the “East Coast Mail”) filled l the post for close on 28 years."
