HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS, INTENSE HEAT. United Press Association. Copyright SYDNEY, Dec. 18. A violent thunderstorm passed over Sydney last night. A boy named Cahill, who was driving a cart, was struck dead by lightning at Dexley. (Received Dec. 18, 11 55 p n ! During the storm large fireballs fell at Darlinghurst and Erncliffe. At Darlinghunst the storm did much damage. People were thrown down but not injured. The telephone and telegraph systems were widely damaged. A tram was struck and disabled, but the passengers were not injured. There has been sweltering heat for several days, the thermometer being 95 in the shade. At many country places it registered over 100 and at Bourke 110.
