DEATH ON S.S. RIPPLE.
AN OLD ALAN BURIED AT SEA. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH,.Feb. 23. R. AY. Raynor, for over thirty years acted as postmaster and constable at the Chatham Islands, died in the steamer Ripple on Thursday morning when the vessel was about i()0 miles from the islands. The deceased gentleman had been suffering for some time from cancer, and it is to this disease that his death is attributable. He boarded the Ripple at the Cliathams on A\ 7 ednesday, and died early on this following day, Dr. Pomare, who Avas on the ship, being in attendance. As the vessel had only completed a portion of her trip to Lyttelton, tlie body Avas buried at sea on Thursday afternoon.
