DELIGHTED AND ASTONISHED AT ROTORUA. Press Association. AYELLINGTON, Feb. 22. The Rotorua carnival is very successful so far, and the Alaori haka and poi dances are the best seen in the district since the Royal visit. A large number of visitors are in Rotorua. Cardinal Aloran left yesterday. On Thursday he visited Whakarewavewa, with a large clerical party, including Archbishop Redwood, and after inspecting the thermal sites at AVhakarewarewa, under the guidance of “Alaggie,” the party were entertained at luncheon at the Geyser Hotel by Count Aloriier, of Sweden. Alessrs. T. E. and A. E. Donne were also of the party. Native girls gave several exhibitions of poi work, and Cardinal Aloran expressed himself as’ being astonished and delighted attlie thermal sites, and as having enjoyed his visit to Rotorua.

DEDICATION OF ST. PATRICK’S. A LIBERAL OFFERING. Press Association. AUCKLAND, Feb. 23. The ceremony of the dedication of St. Patrick’s Cathedral was performed by Cardinal Moran this morning, who afterwards preached a sermon on tho mission of the Roman Catholic Church. The collection taken up at the end of the morning service amounted to £571.
