POSED. Press Assoeiation. DUNEDIN, Feb. 20. The Otago Trades and Labor Council to-night passed the following resolution“ That this Council protests strongly against any scheme of immigration by the Government, on the ground that many men and women in our factories are unable to obtain anything like constant employment, and the Council further considers that it would not only be an injustice to the workers of the 'Dominion, but an injustice to the immigrants, who would have to compete with our fol-low-workers, thereby reducing wag.is and prejudicing the national conditions.” . t , A second resolution passed by tne Council was: —“That the attention of the Inspector of Factories be drawn to the allegation that several factories in Dunedin are in a ver\ unhealthy and insanitary condition, and requests him to take immediate steps to see that the provisions of the Factories Act are complied with. A further resolution urged the Government'to pass i Fair Rent Bill.
