MASTER PRINTERS ASSOCIATION.
FIRST ANNUAL MEETING
CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 19. Tlio first annual meeting of representatives of tlio Federated Master Printers’ Association of New Zealand opened at 11 a.in. to-day, when there were present: Messrs P. Selig (president) in the chair, W. J. Somerville and J. Stone (Dunedin), W. Smith (Invercargill), Foden (Tiniaru), Rani; l ("Wellington), F. Pirani (Wellington country). G. Whitcombe and W. S. Smith (Christchurch). An .apology for absence from Mr. H. (Wilson (Auckland) was read. The drafts of the constitution submitted by members of the Council were then considered, and after discussion of the clauses seriatum, it •was. resolved, on the motion of Mr. Pira.ni, seconded by Mr. Stone, "that the constitution as now drawn un by the Federation be confirmed, adopted and printed.” Mr. W S. Smith moved "that the Officers elected at the conference on November 27th Inst be officers of the Federation, until their successors be appointed. The motion was seconded by .Mr. Stone and carried. Mr. Henry Broadhend was elected secretary of the Federation. • A letter from the South Australian Mister Printers’ Association, congratulating the Federation on its establishment, and asking for: a copy of rules, etc., was read, and ordered to bo acknowledged. It was also dc-. cided to send the rules'when printed. It was resolved that if the Presi-
dent considers it necessary, a meeting -> of . the Council should lie. convened for the first week in March;, at Napier •Consideration of the basis of the cost of composition and letter press machinery, remitted from the conference. resulted in a recommendation to ".the affiliated Associations throughout the Dominion being adopted.
