Nepia te Atu, a Te Arai chief, died on Monday afternoon. Tlie latest reports concerning young O’Dowd, whose leg was amputated at Mrs. Harnie’s private hospital on Saturday, are to tho effectthat the lad is progressing as well as can reasonably be expected under tlie circumstances.
At tlie Masonic Hotel on Saturday afternoon a presentation was mado to Mr. C. J. Parker, Te Arai, by his sons of a gold-stop watch. The presentation was made by Mr. G. Matthewson on their, behalf."- The. reason of the presentation being made on Saturday 'was that- it was the-first occasion for years on,which tho whole of Mr. Parker’s eleven, sons have been in Gisborne-at one time.
