ENTERTAINMENTS.

' THE CATHOLIC BAZAAR. There was again a good attendance last night at. the Bazaar being held in His Majesty’s Theatre in aid of the funds of St. Mary’s Church, and the dancing by Miss Putnam's pupils was again greatly admired. The stalls were kept busy all evening, and a number of art unions were'decided. To-night the bazaar will be open for the last time. WILLOUGHBY-WAR I) SEASON. To-morrow evening at- His Majesty's Theatre, Gisborne theatre-goers will have an opportunity of witnessing one of the latest London successes, “Mr. Hop'kinson,” interpreted by two world-famed artists, Mr Hugh J. Ward and Miss Grace Palotta, supported by a complete London company. . Writing of the production, the Melbourne Age says:—-“In the characterisation of the piece, Mr. Ward and Miss Palotta scored decidedly. Mr. Ward’s performance of Hopkinson was a capital and_ most amusing one, his discomforts fn uncongenial surroundings, and his apologetic manners when he feared he was taking up the time of the Duchess were as amusing as liis painful efforts at repose, and his loud attempts to appear thoroughly at case. The applause and laughter which Mr. Ward secured were ail deserved. Miss Grace Palotta’s successes, have hitherto been gained in musical or farcical comedy, but as the calm and coldblooded Duchess of Braceborougli she gives us a most perfect performance.” On Thursday “The New Clown” will be staged, and on Friday “The Man from Mexico.” A feature of the three productions will bo the sflenic effects and elaborate staging with the specially imported Paris costumes. The box plans are now open at Mr. Miller’s.
