At 0.00 last evening the postmaster at Alaaron received a telephone ■message from Barry’s Bay to the effect that two boys were adrift in a boat 111 the harbor, and were fast being, carried out to sen, A strong nor'-wester was blowing at the time, and til© sea was rou<ph ami crhop«»v. Constable Jackson, on hearing the facts of the case, nrocured an oil launch awl went in search of the. boat. Although. dark licss w. is fa fit coming on he was able, after clausing abo nt in tile harbor for some •time, to pick up the lads, who proved to be the two nous of Mr. I’urini. one aged 9 and the other 5. They .had been paying a visit to Barry’s Bay. and instead of returning by road had borrowed an old flat-bot-tomed boat, with no oars, intending to paddle back to Akarca with a piece of heard. .Constable -Jackson's prompt action probably saved the lives of the boys, as it would have been impossible to pick them up after darkness had set in.
