About- ll'-'b’clock- onr • Saturday night a fire" broke out' in* a -twostoried ‘wooden building, known as Clifton House, containing 30 rooms, s'Ana ted- in Graham-street. The house belongs to tbo estate of the late Air. H. F.. Hardy, and was occupied by Airs.' Ross as a boarding-house.. It appears that tho fire was caused by a lighted candle, which was placed on a' dreSsing-ijible in a servant’s bedroom, setting fire to some clothes hanging behind the door. The -errant's room was burned out, but the remainder of the bpilding was not damaged. The insurances, if any. are not available at present.
