BOWLING.

GISBORNE CLUB. Should the weather, prove fine on Easter Monday, a record day is anticipated at tlie Gisborne Bowling Club’s green. . An invitation lias been accepted by the members of the Turanganui Club to be present on that day. During last season a most enjoyable and exciting game was played between the two clubs, and this year’s game is eagerly looked forward to by members of both clubs. The committee met on Thursday evening, when it was reported that all arra lgements are in a forward state. Ihe members of the. Gisborne Club aie requested to be in attendance at 9.30, when teams will be chosen, and play started at ten o’clock sharp. In the afternoon, play commences at 2 o’clock sharp, and all members are asked to be punctual. Tlio games will be decided on the aggregate points, both in tlio morning and afternoon.

About six full rinks are expeeiid from the Turanganui Club .and iht play promises to be, of a high standard. Friends of bowlers will be cordially welcome to view the matches. It is stated that Turangauni have some*very promising players, and the mother club 33-ill have to fiifc forward strong rinks to holdi their own. The bowlers generally are dis appointed at no teams arriving iron; Napier, as Easter lias been an annual fixture for many years past.

On account of steamer arrange mc-nt tlie Napier, Bluff Hill, Hastings and Greenmeadows Chios have been prevented from coming. TURANGANUI CLUB. There was a strong muster of bowlers at the above club’s green yesterday, when a number of interesting and elijoyable games were played. Interest centred in tile final for the Handicap pairs, when a splendid game took place. The games resulted :

HANDICAP PAIRS. Maekrell and Mattliewson (skip) 26 v. Morrison and Martin (skip) 25: This game proved an exciting one. Morrison and Martin secured the load, and on the Gth head wore 5 to 2, being 8 to 7 on the 10th. Recovering ground Maekrell and Mattliewson drew level on the 13tli head, and putting in 7 on the 15th head they were 16 to 12. On the next three I heads the leading pair went to pieces, Morrison and Martin obtaining 13, the 19th head showing 25 to IS. Securing 3 on the last two heads and receiving a handicap Maekrell and Mattliewson thus obtained victory by tlio narrow margin of 1 point. The two pair of howls donated by Mr. D. Barry were thus won by Messrs. Maekrell and Mattliewson. The Vice-President of the Club (Mr. IV. O. Skeet) in presenting the bowls to tlie winners, said it was etistomery for such presentations to bo made at the annual meeting, but as the bowls were on hand it was thought better that they should he in tlio hands of tlie winners to bo made use of than to bo lying idle in the pavilion. He hoped that when the winners used the bowls, they would always put them on the jack. (Applause). Mr. Mattliewson, in thanking the Vice-President and Mr. Barry for" the howls said he was highly pleased at having’ won the howls, but as be bad already a full set of bowls bis requirements were met in that direction, and ho would have much pleasure ill donating them to the club for further competition. (Applause). Mr. Maekrell said lio was in the same position as Mr. Mattliewson, and he would also donate his howls to the club, being well satisfied with tlio honor of having won them.

, HANDICAP POURS. Entries are being received for handicap fours, for medals donated by the President (Mr. G. Matlhewson). BENNETT CUP. Splendid entries are being received for the Champion Singles for Mr. C. J. Bennett’s ' cup, and good games are anticipated. TARANGANUI vT GISBORNE. Tlio annual match between the above clubs takes place on the Gisborne Club’s green on Monday, play commencing at 10 o’clock. ' Four rinks will represent each club, and an interesting day’s play is anticipated.
