The sensation caused in the Bay of Plenty district by the Maori tohunga Eua has been aooentuuted by the appearanoe of a Maori prophetess, who is oredited wifh some marvellous cures of sick people. Her panaooa for all ills appears to be liberal doses of brandy, with the result that there has been an enormous ruQ on Ibe hotel Block.
Wairoa, last night.
About one hundred Maoris camped at Awa-awaroaßay, Waikaremoana, are followers of the now prophet. He fore«el!s the coming of Christ and King Edward on the 25th June. He claims to have taken tho spell o2 the lake, and says it is always going to bo hue and smooth. Most of the natives come from Whakatane and Opotiki.
