Per Press Associationj Rotorua, last night, A Maori named Rua, styling himself a prophet and brother of Jesus Christ, is causing considerable unrest among the natives of Whakatane district, large numbers following him from place to place. He claims that he can heal the sick, restore sight, and raise the dead (if not dead more than two hours). He tells the natives that King Edward the Seventh will be in Gisborne on the twenty-fifth June. , The natives are very excited. They || say that the pakeha will be driven off ,y the land when the King arrives. A j large house is to be built in Gisborne ! for the new Messiah and King, to post three millions. Numbers of natives®* are selling their horses, cattle, and crops to raise money to follow the prophet. It is reported that five hundred are following him now. M-iny of them volunteered and are armed with modern fire-arms. It is feared that the result will be a breach of the peace. Bua is a son of To Kooti.
