The opening out again of the Borossiu mine, in Westphalia, tho scene of the exploeion in June of last year, revealed a gruesome condition of affairs. Twenty two corpses havo recently boon fouod in the mine.
Tbe emaciated state of the bodies indicates that the unfortunate miners lost their lives through starvation, and not as a direot result of the explosion When the explosion occurred the mine was "saaled up," all tbe orevioes being caulked with strips of clothing to prevent an inrush of gases. The explorers from the surface, as in the case of the recent Courriers disaster in France and concerning which there was so much indignat'on aroused, tt an early stage relinquished hope of finding any more minors alive in the mine.
