BOILER EXPLODES.
SAWMILL WRECKED, AND TWO MEN KILLED. SEVERAL INJURED. .(Per Press Association..) Hokitika, last night. A bad acoident happened at Kumara JuDotion at 10 o’olook this morning, when the boiler of Wilson and Company’s mill is said to have blown to pieces, wrecking tho mill.
A sawyer named Bull, who lately worked in Hokitika, and is a married man with a wife and six children, was killed on the spot.
Le Oompte, another employee, was very seriously injured, and is not expeoted to live.
A youDger brother of Wilson, the pro-* prietor of the mill, had his leg broken in two places, and internal injuries. Batey, the engine .driver, was also seriously injured, Dra McKay and Hands are on the Bpct attending to the men, who are being re» moved to Kumara hospital. Later.-—Le Oompte died on the way to the hospital. Ernest Wilson’s case is serious, Batey is expeoted to reoover. The inquest opens at 7 o’olook to-night, but will adjoura for a week to await the arrival of the Government Inspector of Machinery,
ANOTHER DEATH. (Per Press Association.) Greymouth, last night. W The news of the fatal boiler explosion at Wilson and Oo.’s mill, Kumara junction, oast quite a gloom over the towD, the unfortunate men being well known here. Word was received at nine o’olock tonight that Wilson had snccumbed to his injuries, and the lad Batty was in a oritical condition.
Ziegler, who escaped with slight in juries, arrived in town this afternoon. He cannot, account for the accident,
