At their emotion mart to-day Messrs Bain Bros, have a very large programme to gat through, there being several important sales to follow their produoo ealo. The auction sale of drapery, which has been carried on in Morgan’s buildings during tho past week, will be continued to-day.

Upwards of a hundred cases of" fruit were disposed of by Messrs Bain Bros, yesterday. Mandarins and oranges sold at 6s per case, and apples at 11s and 12s. A few cases of pine apples sold at os 9d.

At the Wesley Church to-morrow morning the Bov. G. Hounseil will deliver an address to the children entitled “ Worship.” In fbo evening Mr W, Eraser will conduct sorvioe. Mr Hounseil will hold divine service at Makauri in tho evening. At St. Andrew’s Church to-morrow (Sunday) at 11 a.m. Mr Paterson will give a sermonette to the children ; subject of sermon, “ Drawn out of tho water ; " and in tho evening the subject oi lecture will bo “The Craft in danger.” Women specially invited. A meeting of the Sievwright Memorial committee was held in Townlov s Hall yesterday afternoon, when Mrs rowniey presided. Several further amounts were received in response to the appeal that had been circulated, so that ebout £SO has been sent in up to the present time. The committee are still open to receive suggestions as to the form the memorial should lake, ' ana trust that those who recognise Mrs Sievwright’s worth and the work she endeavored to do, will help forward the efforts of the committee to perpetuate her memory in some suitable way. The committee desire to tender their thanks to Mrs Whinray for the donation of £Blls9d, the proceeds of. the opening of tho hall for the Sievwright Memorial. Xho donation was seat to Uta Townley.

Competition was remarkably keen, and very satisfactory pnoeu wore obtained for all the lots offered. The sale was conductod by Mr W. Hoany. Tho attention of investors and epeculutors is drawn to tho -property sale to bo hold by Messrs Bain Bros, at their auction mart to-day. Two choice sections in the uppor part of Gladstone road, ono with a four-roomed house and outbuildings, are offered for salo, and should command koen competition.

A very largo numbor of tiokets have been sold, end tho following local artists will present a moot attractive programme : —Mrs P. Barry (Miss Maud Donovan), Miss Donuolly, Miss Kirby, Messrs Lichtwark, Teat, Mitchell, Trent, Captain Whitoly, Barton, ShoriS, Gittos, and Alf. Rico has promised his assistance. A full programme is to bo submitted next week.

The Gisborne Cycling Club hold a very successful concert last evening in the Holy Trinity schoolroom. There was a fair number pro36Dt notwithstanding the boistrous night, An excellent programme was submitted, including songs by Messrs W. J. McGibbon, Parkor, Cumming and Dudley Trent, Misses ICrkby, Ray Nelson, and Rachel Rico ; whilo recitations were given by Mr Alfred Rice. An instrumental trio was played by Miss Lang (piano), Mr A. Lang (violio), and Mr G. Douglas (cornet). Mr Gittos played tho aocompstiiments. During tho interval the Rev. Dawson Thomas, President of the Club, presented the prizes won nt tha recent road tacos. Mr Butterworth rocoiveJ. first prize for fastest time, and tho seoona and third prizes fell to Messrs D. Pago and B. Byrn. The President congratulated tho membors o£ the Club upon the suocess achieved. Tho concert was arranged to raise funds to send a representative from tho Gisborne Club to oompeto in the important race from Timaru to Christohurcb.

At tbe Police Court yesterday morning Jarnss Price, Jomos ..Malone, Richard Birkett, and Riobard Gardiner were charged before Mr Barton, S.M., with the theft of i£6, the proporty of Patrick Moran. Sorgoant McKenzie asked that the information against Gardinor bo withdrawn, as ho did not wish to include him in the charge. Gardiner wee then discharged. The evidence showed that Moran went into the Albion Hotel bar on the 25th instant, and wa3 served with a cup of beef ten. Moran, who was partly intoxicated, fell in tho passage of the hotel, and was picked up by Malono. Birketi, Price, and Malone carried him to the long-room and laid him on a stretcher. Birkett called Gardiner into the room, and in the presence of the housemaid Moran was searched, the sum of £2 Os 2d being found on him, which was handed to Mr Harris for safekeeping. Mr Stock, who appeared for the accused, contended that there was no case to answer. Tho three accused wore respectable young men against whom nothing had been known. Out of charity they had eearehed Moran, in the presence of another, and had handed the money to Mr Harris. In dismissing the information Mr Barton pointed out the unreliabloness of Moran’s evidence and the absence of anything pointing to felonious intent on the part of accused.
