The proposal was to establish a training cotlogo ot Wellesley Btroet school until a suitable building could bo built, Tho Minister a reply to tho requost of tho Board for a grant of £SOOO was to tho effect that the application would be doalt with in connection with tho public works estimates, but i there was no roason why the Board Bhould not establish a school in tho manner already approved. It was resolved that the matter be sent on to the City I Schools Committee, asking their advice. Justice Coopor to-day decided in the case Carmody v. Barlow, an appeal against the decision of the Magistrate at Blenheim dismissing a charge against Barlow for shooting Paradise ducks, that the appeal must be upheld and Barlow convicted. His Honor held that indigenous birds which come within the definition of native game could be protected by the proclamation under section 3 of the Aefc of 1886. Ml’ Kerr, stationmaster at Mosgiol, died this morning. He had been ailing for some weeks. Ha was ’ transferred from Clinton in April last. The Education Board is sending its chairman and Mr Mitchell as a deputation to Wellington to explain the position regarding the now Normal school.
