CANTERBURY v. NEW ZEALAND, EASY WIN FOR NEW ZEALAND.

(Per Press Association.) Christcburoh, last night.

The match between New Zealand nnd Canterbury was played at Lancaster Park this afternoon in fine though slightly overcast weather, and before a crowd of abont 4500 spectators. New Zealand proved much too strong for tho home team, their forwards iu particular being considerably heavier than the Canterbury pack. Notwithstanding thie, the play of tho winnors was in the early stages of the game decidedly raggod, although it improved later and some of the work done fay the baoks was very effective. At no stage of the game did Canterbury look really dangerous, and consequently there was no necessity for the New Zealanders to over exert themselves. In the first spell Gillet, Thomson and Mynotb soored trios, Boobh converting one, nnd half time was called with the score New Zealand 11, Canterbury nil. In the second spell Harper scored a try for Canterbury, which waa not converted. Tho remainder of the game was in favor of New Zealand, and tries were added by McGregor and Gillett, the latter converting both. The final score was : New Zealand 21, Canterbury 3.
